Education Department opens probes into NYC schools and Jeffco over staff sexual misconduct handling
The U.S. Education Department's Office for Civil Rights launched investigations into how the New York City school system, Colorado's Jeffco Public Schools and unnamed districts in six other states handle sexual misconduct claims against employees, targeting so-called pass-the-trash practices. New York City schools said they take abuse allegations seriously and are reviewing the complaint.
